In Indore, the introduction of a technologically advanced vehicle monitoring system at checkpoints is set to enhance the transparency of logistics flow in the area, which is a key commercial hub in Madhya Pradesh. Truckers and transporters believe that about 4,000 commercial vehicles depart from Indore daily, a number that increases during festive periods. However, the current absence of an effective monitoring system is hindering government efforts to improve vehicle movement and security at these checkpoints.
CL Mukati, president of the Indore Truck Operators and Transport Association, emphasized the importance of implementing a technology-based solution to oversee vehicle movement efficiently and prevent disruptions and extortion. The association, along with others, has reached out to the Minister of Transport, Rao Uday Pratap Singh, urging the adoption of a tech-based monitoring system for a smoother flow of commercial vehicles.
Various associations, including the All India Motor Transport Congress, have advocated for the swift implementation of the Gujarat model in the state to streamline transport operations. Transporters have also requested the establishment of a helpline number and an official app to report issues and complaints. The recent decision by the Madhya Pradesh government to remove all interstate border checkposts on July 1 has been well received by transporters, who have long pushed for this change to improve transport efficiency and combat corruption.
